      Nimrod Fortress (also known as Qalaat al-Subeyba or castle on a large rock) - this is a significant size fortress complex of the Middle Ages. It is located in the northern part of the Golan Heights, at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level.

      The fortress was built in 1229 by Osman al-Aziz, who pursued the aim to better protect Damascus during the Sixth Crusade. For half a century fort grew, strengthened its owners, constructing additions watchtowers. However, at the end of XIII century castle lost strategic importance and gradually fell into disrepair. More castle suffered during the earthquake in the XVIII century.

      In the middle of the XX century restoration work was done ruined fortress Nimrod. Now this place has the status of a national park. Despite the difficult fate, the castle ruins of Nimrod saved a lot of amazing and interesting: Visitors can explore the underground moves inside to visit the surviving towers, enjoy the surroundings from the observation deck.
